About the hotel

An elegant 18th century country house with a wonderful lakeland setting on the shores of Lake Ullswater, listed as one of the most beautifully situated hotels in Great Britain.

With spectacular views of the lake and fells, it stands in 18 acres of parkland and gardens including nearly quarter mile of lake frontage. Privately owned and managed, it offers peace, pleasure and privacy.

The hotel is an AA Inspectors’ Choice Hotel in Britain & Ireland 2006 to 2007

Guests can relax in style in a choice of fine reception rooms with log fires in the winter. The 19 comfortable bedrooms are all individually decorated and furnished, many with special features. Personal care for our guests and attention to detail are our aim. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the service professional and attentive, yet unobtrusive.

The enjoyment of good food is an integral part of any stay at the Rampsbeck provides superb food and breathtaking views. Our award winning restaurant is recommended in all the major guides and has been awarded 3 AA Rosettes, a distinction only given to the top 10 percent of restaurants. The attractive, candlelit Dining Room has superb lake views and here guests can enjoy the very best of modern French and English cuisine.
